CIA TERRORISM IN LIBYA & PAKISTAN

Al-Libi

The people opposing Gaddafi are the CIA's al Qaeda.

The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) has been an affiliate of al-Qaida.

(Libyan rebellion has radical Islamist fervor.)

Top al-Qaida member Abu Yahya al-Libi, above, has been an LIFG member.

On 18 March 2011, a Daily Telegraph (UK) article tells us that in Libya: the West and al-Qaeda are on the same side

"An al-Qaeda leader of Libyan origin, Abu Yahya al-Libi, released a statement backing the (Libyan) insurrection a week ago..."

US government "cables ... identified Dernah (in Libya) in particular as a breeding ground for fighters in a number of causes, including Afghanistan and Iraq.

"Col Gaddafi has pinpointed the rebels in Dernah as being led by an al-Qaeda cell that has declared the town an Islamic emirate...

"The man running Dernah's defences, Abdelkarim al-Hasadi, was arrested by US forces in Afghanistan in 2002..."

The military chief of the opposition National Council "is Abdul Fattah Younis al-Obeidi" who "worked with the SAS..."

I discovered, hidden in my 'spam' box, a number of useful comments. They have now been 'published'. Sorry about the delay.

Below are two such comments, which just happen to be about CIA terrorism:

1. Bravo for raising concerns about CIA support for the Baloch separatist movement.

I believe this is well-supported by the evidence.

It seems to me that the government of Pakistan has only discussed this sensitive issue in closed door sessions, but since Davis' arrest, more retired generals and ISI agents are speaking out about it:

The Pentagon makes no secret (via unclassified documents widely available on the Internet) of their desire to see energy and mineral rich Balochistan secede from Pakistan to become a US client state - just like energy and mineral rich Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and the other former Soviet republics.

Moreover there’s no way to ascertain whether random acts of terror in the border regions are caused by the Taliban, Al Qaeda or the CIA-funded BLA.

However there's no question that CIA-sponsored BLA terrorism is responsible for much of the violence - especially around the Chinese-built port in Gwadar, Pakistan (employed to offload Iranian oil destined for China).

Given that Iran and China are major political/economic rivals, it's a pity the US media fails to report on any of this.

I blog about this at "Our CIA freedom fighters in Pakistan"

A Libyan living in the UK, Al-Bashir Mohammed Al-Faqih was convicted in the UK of 'terrorism' offences. Reportedly he is linked to the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group.

2. The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group which began the uprisings:

An analytical report is available for download from the NEFA Foundation website focusing on the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), authored by NEFA Senior Investigator Evan Kohlmann (with NEFA Senior Analyst Josh Lefkowitz).

This document is based upon an expert witness report filed in 2007 on behalf of Scotland Yard's SO-15 Counter Terrorism Command and the U.K. Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) during Operation Cavern (Regina v. Al Bashir Mohammed al-Faqih).

In July 2007, Mr. al-Faqih pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing a document or record containing information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism—specifically documents demonstrating how to fabricate explosives and set up a terror cell.

The report is divided into the following sections: Part I: Origins in the 1980s Part II: Exile in the Sudan (1992-1995) Part III: The Libyan Theater (1990-1997) Part IV: A Return to Jihad in Afghanistan (1998-2001) Part V: The LIFG and the Contemporary War on Terrorism.

Additionally, the report includes an appendix featuring an actual personnel form completed by recruits seeking to enlist in courses offered at the LIFG-run "Abu Yahya al-Liby" terrorist training camp near Kabul, Afghanistan in 2000-2001.

IFJ Outraged By Murder Of Journalist In Balochistan

Islamabad, Nov. 25 :- The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) demands an immediate investigation into the murder of journalist Abdul Hameed Hayatan in Balochistan, including a full inquiry into allegations of involvement of Pakistani security agencies.

The body of Hayatan, 25, was found in the village of Hiroonk, near Turbat, in Pakistan's southwest, on November 18.

Known also as Lala Hammed Baloch, Hayatan was found dead in a canal alongside his friend,Hamid Ismail, after they disappeared from their home town of Gwadar, in Balochistan's west, on October 25, according to the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ).

Hayatan had been shot in the head and chest and appeared to have been tortured. A note found with the bodies of Hayatan and Ismail said "A Gift of Eid for the Balochs", in reference to the Eid al-Adha holiday.

Local media reported that Hayatan, a reporter with Daily Intekhab and a founder of the Gwadar Press Club, was allegedly abducted with his friend by state security agents. Hayatan was also reported to be active in the Balochistan Nationalist Movement.

The murder of Hayatan brings to 11 the total number of reported deaths of media workers in Pakistan this year. Four of these deaths have been in Balochistan

The Balochistan Union of Journalists, an affiliate of the PFUJ, has long agitated for full inquiries into the murders of media personnel in Balochistan, and appropriate protection to be provided by authorities. (See the IFJ's 2009 Situation Report on Balochistan here).

However, authorities have made no arrests for murders of media personnel in the province, including the case of Chisti Mujahid, a senior journalist with the weekly Akbar-e-Jehan, who was shot dead in Quetta in February 2008.

The media community in Gwadar, which staged protests demanding information about Hayatan's disappearance, declared three days of mourning for the death of their colleague.

"Pakistan's state and federal authorities must immediately conduct a swift and credible investigation into the murder of Abdul Hameed Hayatan. The allegations of state security involvement must not stand in the way of a full inquiry and the pursuit of justice to bring the perpetrators to account," IFJ Asia-Pacific Director Jacqueline Park said.

Akhtar Mengals Balochistan Assessment of 5 November and Agha Amins Assessment of 11 August 2010

Balochistan: endless despair —Mohammad Akhtar Mengal
The appalling poverty, desolation, unemployment, worsening health conditions, malnourishment, tribal in-fighting, mounting corruption, support for drug barons and religious fundamentalism in historically peaceful and secular-oriented Baloch society are the domino effects of systematic policies imposed by the Islamabad super-establishment
Although the British Raj ended in 1947, under Pakistan's ethnically structured and politically over-centralised state, the concept and practice of second-class citizenry remains a common practice by the dominant group against the underprivileged people.

Initially, the East Pakistani population was the prime victim of this policy of systematic second-class citizenry; they were discriminated against because of their ethnicity, origin, and political aspirations. They were denied legal rights, civil rights, political rights and overall economic opportunities in a country that came into being through the extraordinary contribution of the Bengali political and intellectual elite.
Rebuffing West Pakistan's neo-colonial policies, the Bengalis took a non-violent path to change their destiny. They voted in favour of the Awami League and sent a clear signal to the power base in Lahore, GHQ and Islamabad that the days of institutionalised slavery are over. The dominant civil-military establishment's hawkish response to Bengal's political verdict was ruthless, which resulted in millions of deaths, destruction and separation of East Pakistan.

After the fall of Dhaka, the same hawkish elite apprehended another opportunity to continue its policy of second-class citizenry, and this time the Baloch people became a soft target. Balochistan was wealth-looted, people-killed, land-grabbed for strategic use and its people were systematically kept underdeveloped.

Furthermore, the hawkish elite and ethnically dominant policy-making institutions imposed new methods to further suppress the 'Baloch second-class citizenry'. Thousands of people were recruited in Frontier Corps (FC) from FATA, Punjab and other provinces, denying the right of employment to the locals. The same FC established hundreds of check posts during the 1980s to date, just to restrict people's social, economic and development movements.

The appalling poverty, desolation, unemployment, worsening health conditions, malnourishment, tribal in-fighting, mounting corruption, support for drug barons and religious fundamentalism in historically peaceful and secular-oriented Baloch society are the domino effects of systematic policies imposed by the Islamabad super-establishment.
Initially, the central government and its operational arms, i.e. military and paramilitary troops and security agencies, used co-option as a powerful instrument to buy sympathy for Islamabad's colonial policies. They also practiced the policy of 'divide and rule' by instigating inter-ethnic and tribal rivalries to undermine the Baloch people's logical movement for the right to self-determination.

After successive failure in both strategies to intimidate moderate political activists and co-opt the legitimate Baloch leadership, the Centre is applying new tactics to create mass fear and eliminate forward thinking Baloch nationalists.

This new policy is meant to serve, if continued unabatedly, two main objectives: a) getting rid of the moderate Baloch political class, which is unwilling to submit to the mighty civil-military establishment; b) to pave the way for Taliban-like fundamentalist groups, co-opted corrupt elite and mafias to influence regional security developments and serve the establishment's broader strategic interests.

The implementation of policy began, and continued, since the military unleashed an unjustified air and ground operation against the people of Dera Bugti and Kohlu in December 2005. The disproportionate and indiscriminate use of power by troops against the civilian population was immense. The operation resulted in loss of life, property, displacement and killing of veteran Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and Mir Balaach Marri.

In the last two years, this policy of elimination has taken a more serious twist. The government-backed serial killers are openly targeting senior Baloch leaders, and security agencies are 'disappearing' and then throwing the mutilated bodies of political activists on the streets.

The cold-blooded murder of Balochistan National Party (BNP) leaders, i.e. Mr Habib Jalib Baloch in July 2010, Haji Liaquat Mengal in July 2010, Attaullah Baloch in August 2010, Mir Noordin Mengal in October 2010, and the recent target killing of National Party senior leader Maula Bakhsh Dashti in July 2010 in Turbat, BNP Karachi president Zahid Baloch in 2008, brutal daylight abductions and killing of three senior Baloch leaders in April 2009, Rasool Bux Mengal in August 2009 and assassination attempt on prominent Baloch intellectual Jan Mohammad Dashti in February 2009 and on Baloch Student Organisation vice-chairman Rasheed Baloch in Khuzdar represent a fraction of the systematic and slow-motion genocide in Balochistan.

Enforced disappearances in Balochistan continue unabated as the situation worsens and the recovery of a number of bullet-riddled bodies in the province is at an all-time high. Twenty-one bullet-riddled bodies of missing persons, including two lawyers, have so far been found from different areas of Balochistan, including Quetta, Mastung and Khuzdar since July 4, 2010. Invariably, all victims were Baloch and were killed in a similar manner.

The same principle, creating and supporting 'death squads' like Al-Shams and Al-Badar in East Pakistan during 1971-72, is being used in Balochistan. This time the security establishment is using dummy organisations such as the Baloch Musalla Defai Tanzeem (BMDT), the Sipah-e-Islam and the Ansar-ul-Islam to eliminate forward-looking Baloch nationalists. It is a known fact that these 'killer squads' are the brainchild of the FC and the intelligence agencies.

The government and its armed militias, reluctant to curb Taliban activities in Balochistan, are 'heroically' employing the policy of 'collective punishment' against the innocent Baloch civilians. During a recent military operation in district Awaran's Mashkay area, security forces burnt shops of those who had been selling cloth resembling nationalists' flags, and torched tailors' machines on suspicion of their sewing the flags. Moreover, they set on fire the property and houses belonging to family or clan members of political activists.

This kind of mistreatment and incidents are not uncommon for 'second-class citizens'. Instead of being protected by the law and the judiciary, the Baloch are actually harassed by the law enforcement and legal institutions.

The Baloch people have lost trust and hope that Pakistan's inbuilt discriminatory system will provide them any justice and punish or discourage perpetrators of crimes against humanity. However, the international community and international organisations, including human rights mechanisms' negligence and silence are adding to the Baloch miseries.

Balochistan is not only an administrative province of Pakistan but it is a vast region with more than 12 million Baloch population, spanning across into Iran and Afghanistan.

Inattention of the international community will further aggravate the current instability and a rapidly developing Darfur and Somalia-like situation in Balochistan will have serious implications for long-term peace and stability in the region.

MY ASSESSMENT OF BALOCHISTAN CRISIS MADE ON 11 AUGUST 2010 AND POSTED IN THE BLOGS:---

I HAD SENT IT TO ALL NEWSPAPERS ALSO AND COMING FROM A RETIRED MAJOR IT WOULD HAVE ADDED CREDIBILITY TO BALOCH NATIONALISTS CLAIMS , NO NEWSPAPER PUBLISHED MY 11 AUGUST 2010 ASSESSMENT BECAUSE ALL PRESS IN PAKISTAN IS A CHEAP PAID KEEP OF PAKISTANS ESTABLISHMENT !

No place for Baloch in Pakistan

While visiting Quetta just a day ago I was surprised to hear about attitudes of some key persons on the scene.

Officer A-- The Baloch are charsis and good for nothing ?

Officer B-- The Baloch dont work hard , look at the Pashtuns who are much better ?

Officer C -- If your sub contractor is non Baloch he can get work ?

The factual position is as following :--

1- A large part of Pakistans work is based on baradari , ethnicity and sect.In this context the Baloch has no place. All anti smuggling government forces in Balochistan are Pashtun or Punjabi. The FC is 100 percent Pashtun although lately Punjabis have been introduced in FC through backdoor. Thus FC gives a free hand to Pashtun smugglers while Baloch are harassed.

2-Pakistans foundation was not merit. So the Hindus and Sikhs were massacred in West Punjab so that an unfair advantage can be created for Punjabis. Thus properties and industries were grabbed free of cost in lahore and pindi.this is the merit that pakistanis talk about.

3-Soon after partition in 1955 Balochistan Province was abolished and all decisions taken from lahore. All along till 1969.So what chance did Baloch have.Such was the discrimination that in 1973 nearly 100 % of Quetta police was non Baloch and mostly Punjabi.

4-The story of military action in 1973-76 is well documented.

4-After 1979 systematically Afghan refugees were given Pakistani NIC and demographic change encouraged.

5-In 2002 Musharraf started Gwadar port , not for Baloch but to change the demography against Baloch.Similarly the Greater Kachi Canal was started to bring non Baloch settlers and turn the Baloch into minority in 2002.

6-My research indicates that for each non Baloch killed in Quetta , a Baloch is killed next day ! So there is a pattern and Baloch are fast losing the war in face of officials who regard them as sub humans !

I have seen Baloch in top positions in academia, technology, agriculture and military arts worldwide.

In Afghanistan General Ghafoor a Baloch and a personal friend gave hell to Haqqani network under General Shahnawaz Tanai in Khost in 1986.Ghafur was decorated by President Karmal in a ceremony with Afghanistans highest awards.

Baloch farmers worked wonders as settlers in South and West Punjab and in Sindh and even in many parts of Balochistan.

This is not about merit but about sheer discrimination !

It is the same discrimination that Punjabi and UP Muslims alleged against Hindus and Sikhs in pre 1947.

The present Balochistan government lacks legitimacy because all main stream Baloch parties boycotted elections of 2008 because of outrages of the military usurper Musharraf .So the present chief minister is not a genuine Baloch representative at all.

I asked a senior Intelligence Bureau official then dismissed in 2002 and now reinstated , as to what was his role in IB.He stated to make one tribe fight another !

ZAB pitched Bugti against Marris ! Musharraf pitched South Baloch Gujjars like Jam Sahib against mainstream Baloch tribes and now we have Brahvis pitched against Marris and Bugtis.

This is what is exactly happening in Balochistan with Aslam Raisani of Raisani tribe described by famous author Ron Suskind as agent of British and French Intelligence in his book Ways of the world !

It is time to question these divisive and discriminatory policies. From what is happening in Balochistan one can see that it is neither fair nor just but a reincarnation of anarchy par excellence.

My study reveals that those in charge of Balochistan and Balochistan policy see physical elimination, arbitrary arrest and disappearance as the answer and all this will fail.Even if this does not fail it will be remembered in history as genocide and injustice !

So where is Islam and democracy here ?

Instead of blaming Indians or Israel or USA Pakistans political elite needs to analyse its policies in Balochistan.
