To, March 04,2011 Editor 'Daily Dawn Karachi Please Publish the following in the letter editor column of esteemed daily. Aman Ki Asha Quarter of a page has been devoted in 'The News' of Mar 04.11 to an advertisement entitled 'Re-engagement for PEACE' to inform the public that a group of 24 former ministers, diplomats and leaders of thought(all grouped a pseudo-intellectuals),14 from Pakistan and 10 from India, are participating in a seminar at Karachi on March 8-9,2011. The aim and objective of the participants/seminar is noble and high ie, peace between India and Pakistan through people to people contact, trade-- etc. The participants of the seminar are motivated by the example of France and Germany who are living in harmony, leaving behind historic animosity. To equate two sets of countries with dissimilar historic background, culture and value/purpose of life is a blunder. A crucial dissimilarity is the fact that the people of the two European countries have been free nations ever since their inception while the people of other two countries have never been free nations and love live in slavery. The former set of countries can independently adopt a course for their mutual relationship. Where as later set is devoid of such a possibility. Even the present initiative in the form of Aman Ki Asha is guided and controlled by the powers to be. All the participants have been, through out their productive life, part of a dispensation which had propagated and practiced acrimony between two neighboring Countries. The foreign policy directors (not indigenous) of the two countries continue to apply efforts in opposite direction (friendship/enmity) with such a precision that relations between the two states are static since 62 years. The fact that the seminar is not open even to selected audience and will be conducted in isolation is the proof of its farcical nature. Who is footing the bill? Not the participant because they live on the house. This activity is un-productive in relation to the people of the two countries.
