A New Song From Lights

One of the reasons I enjoy Youtube so much is because of the original music that you can hear, especially that made by people you would not be able to see otherwise. One that I stumbled across has been Lights who is a singer/songwriter who has a new record coming out fairly soon. First here's one she wrote the day before she filmed the video below and the second video is an acoustic version of a song called "I Owe You One" from her first EP.

I like this next video. It is seesm so casual, with Lights just trucking around her apartment in a beat up sweatshirt and then playing an effortless version of one of her older songs.

You can buy this song (and other songs by Lights at itunes: buy it on iTunes. Also check out her website called iamlights.com of course.

The Lonely Island With Akon: I Just Had Sex

It's about time we got something new from The Lonely Island (Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer & Jorma Taccone) and this is the first song off their 2nd album called "I Just Had Sex" and the song is also carrying that name.

The video features Akon, (yummy) Jessica Alba, (equally yummy) Blake Lively and (not-quite-so-yummy) John McEnroe. What do you think? Hit or miss? You can pick it up on iTunes.

"She Put A Bag On My Head!" "Still Counts!"

I don't know what they caught at the end of the video where they were shooting off fireworks, but I think both Lady Gaga and Katy Perry have the same thing - except their fireworks were from their breasts.
The Lonely Island is Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer & Jorma Taccone

CNET And iJustine Review The Apple iPad

Both of these videos came out a while ago (May 2010 I believe), but both are actually good reviews of the Apple iPad. The CNET review is done by Donald Bell, a senior editor at cnet.com who explains the iPad in a non-techy manner that those unfamilar with the device can easily follow. He also shows how to use the Apple iPad's apps and tells viewers about how including iTunes and the Apple Apps Store on the iPad make it a great tablet.

Another look at the Apple iPad is given by iJustine on her ijustinereviews, her channel where she offers reviews of various tech products like the ipad. She mentions towards the end of the video that she was going to review some of the apps and you can find that video here: ipad apps review.

IJ also mentioned that the iPad unfortunately doesn't have a camera, but since she released this video it looks like the next version of the iPad due out in early 2011 will have one.

Kevjumba And Nigahiga Prove They Are Manly Enough To Shed A Tear

Yes guys, you can be a manly man and still be sensitive enough to allow your tears to fall. At least that's what Kevjumba, Nigahiga and Chestersee would have you believe after watching their music video for their song Shed A Tear available on iTunes.

If you're on Youtube for any length of time you already know who Ryan Higa (nigahiga) and Kevin Wu (kevjumba) are, but you might not be familiar with the 3rd dude in the video: Chester See. He's a talented singer/musician with over 100 videos uploaded on his channel, so check out his music over on the link given above. Here's one of his great songs you might like: God Damn You're Beautiful.

Of course, you may be thinking "If he's so talented, what's he doing with those two knuckleheads?" Well, both Kevjumba and Nigahiga are not lacking in talent themselves - The Nigahiga channel is the most subscribed channel on Youtube (Ryan's closing in on 3 million subscribers) and Kevjumba's numbers are right up there too. Both have musical videos so, if somehow you aren't subbed to either of them, go watch their videos to find out what the fuss is all about.

DaveDays Sings Olive You On BlogTV

LOL, davedays and Sammah singing Olive You on BlogTV. This is just a short video clip.

olive you - Broadcast your self LIVE

Dave of course is referring to Kimmi Smiles who sang on the video with him (see this post: DaveDays ~ Olive You With Kimmi Smiles) but with Sammah taking Kimmi's part here.

If you want to check out some more clips of Dave on BlogTV, you can go to Dave's BlogTV channel to watch some of his other clips, but if you go there and also subscribe to his channel, you can get updates of when he has posted stuff and get notification of when he is "on the air" which is fairly frequently.

And if you want to pick up the song on iTunes, (um, the original version with Kimmi, not the one with Sammah, although if enough people demand a copy of this one, I'm sure Dave will put it on iTunes or his own website) go to Olive You to download it from iTunes.

Wow! Fred Figglehorn Drops An Album

Looks like Fred has just released his album with this song called Tater Haters leading the way. Fred was always something of a cartoon with his high-pitched voice and now he's morphed to animated mode for this video. I would really like to know what you think about this development.

In case you don't know who Fred is (you been living under a rock or what?), he is a character by Lucas Cruikshank that is a highpitched and very hyper kid who gets into many misadventures and seems to get left alone a lot. I admit I watched quite a few Fred videos when I first joined YouTube, but never subbed to his channel.

If you simply gotta have it, Fred's songs are available on iTunes and the album is called Who's Ready to Party?. Me, I think I this may be a party I'll skip, thank you very much.

The animation is okay I guess and reminds me of something that we would get from Ren and Stimpy, but even though the "Tater Haters" part is oddly catchy, I don't think this is something I will be waiting in line to purchase.

Maybe this latest development in Lucas' career will help him when he joins Nickelodeon's stable this coming spring with his own show, and maybe he is pushing this out in an effort to appeal to the pre-teen crowd (I'm hoping) because it is not something that many mainstream youtubers will likely want to watch (not that I am tapped in to the psyche of your typical YT viewer).

Yes Fred does maintain a massive following on YouTube and currently sits in 4th place on the alltime list, but he was once the most subscribed channel on YouTube not that long ago. But as he has broadened his horizons beyond the website with his Nickelodeon deal and his recent movie Fred: The Movie which was originally supposed to be a theatrical released, but premiered on Nickelodeon. The movie aired in September 2010 with a respectable 7.6 million viewers (not me).

Lucas' Fred YouTube channel continues to garner new subscribers but nothing like it generated a year or so back, while other channels on YouTube are overtaking and passing him. Many of the Fred-haters would say that is a good thing, but you have to take it for what it is. His channel gets about 4,000-5,000 new subs each week, but most of the other top channels are getting 3-4 times that number every week, which means this channel will slip down the rankings. I think he is close to his limit on what he can get as far as new subs, but there could be an even greater market of those on Nickelodeon who may not have heard of Fred and fall under his spell.

Some have grown tired of the Fred character and would be happy to see him disappear, but with a subscriber base of over 2 million, don't expect Fred to stop making videos for YouTube anytime soon - although it is next to impossible to figure out what successful YouTube partners earn, you can bet that Lucas has emassed a tidy sum that continues to provide him with more than enough to kick back and relax. I read somewhere that he easily has college taken care of (if he chooses that route) along with a nice nest egg.

Question: What is your opinion of this video?

DaveDays ~ "Turn Off The Lights" Song For Ecomagination Challenge

It seems that DaveDays is coming out with new songs just about every other week! Actually his most recent video was released about 2 weeks ago, see my post about What Does It Take.

And yes, that was Kimmi (last seen in Dave's Olive You video) and Sammah of "Do It Float?" fame hidin' out in the shower. Actually, Dave credits Sammah and Cyr for doing the filming.

This looks like it may be part of the Ecomagination Challenge and you have to like Dave's style: "yeah, we gotta turn the lights off baby. Don't you wanna save the environment?"

And you can pick up the newest DaveDays song (and his others too) over at davedays/itunes (actually Dave's giving this one away for FREE and that link takes you to his website).

Amy Kuney's New Song "Hope A Little Harder"

This is a new song from Amy Kuney that was recently featured on the television series One Tree Hill (season 8, episode 2). The song is called Hope A Little Harder and is available from iTunes. My suggestion? Buy it and support an up-and-coming singer who has a lot of videos and songs on her YouTube channel.

I received a friend request on YouTube from her and I always check out the other person's channel to see whether or not I should accept their request and I was very happy to click on her video of this song. I immediately accepted her as a friend and subscribed to her channel. She currently has 17,904 subs and should have more. Her channel states she is an unsigned singer and hopefully if you check out her music and maybe subscribe to her as well, it will help persuade the muckety-mucks in the recording industry that she should get signed!

There are a number of great artists on YouTube with varying levels of success and by subscribing to them you will get some great music and maybe help support a new artist.

DaveDays Latest ~ What Does It Take

Jeez, every time I turn around davedays has another great new song coming out! He just had Olive You and here's a new one.

Liking all the pictures - quite a few famous Youtubers Dave of course, Miley Cyrus, Shay Carl, Kevjumba, a bunch of people from theStation, I'm pretty sure I spotted Kimmitalks in there too. If you want, leave a note in the comments of who you spotted.

According to the video, Dave says this is just a "lyrics video" and he will be uploading the real video for this song shortly. When he does, I'll add it to this post and Twitter about it so you can find it - although you can get it if you sub to his channel.

Here's where you can find the song on iTunes: What Does It Take.

There are other songs and videos by DaveDays on Bradshaw's Blog if you want to take a look. Most have links to iTunes and back to Dave's channel for those posted before this blog started.

Kimmi Smiles With An Update & Her Team Beard Supernote

Have to admit that I think kimmitalks (or Kimmi Smiles) is just the cutest. She seems genuinely happy to be making YouTube videos. Take a quick look at the following:

It does sound like she is going to be busy for the next little while and will have to space out her future videos because of school and that's okay. Nothing wrong with concentrating on doing well in school. When she does post the video about surviving the upcoming zombie apocalypse, I'll be sure to include it here too.

I had thought that I was already subbed to her YouTube channel but found out I wasn't (fixed that just now) but I was following her on Twitter (she's at KimmiSmiles on Twitter). I started following her there after I posted about her & davedays on BlogTV in July, but somehow I didn't sub to her channel - but like I said - fixed now.

And in case you somehow missed it, Kimmi and Dave made a great video called Olive You about a month ago and available at iTunes (go buy it now - RIGHT NOW!)

Also, it looks like Kimmi took the Supernote challenge and joined Team Beard (and no, she's not required to grow a beard to be a member of Wheezy Waiter's Supernote team). Her video with her Supernote is shown below.

And on a personal note to Kimmi (if she ever reads this), don't worry so much, your subs will still be here when you can start posting again after your exams and stuff. Just worry about doing well at university because that's what's important.
