The tabulations are done, and the results are in. According to Rhett&Link's website, the winners are: Team Beard! Congrats to Wheezy Waiter and his team of beardlovers who dethroned last year's champs, Shay Carl and the Shaytards Rebellionites. It turned out to be super-close.
According to Rhett&Link, the number of Supernotes submitted by Team Beard was 18 less than Shay's team, although Wheezy's bunch won by a fair margin. Below are the full results:
So ends the 2010 Supernote Contest - a big congrats to Wheezy Waiter and his team mates for an impressive showing! Now you have to wonder... will Shay try to reclaim the crown next year?
Why doesn't Nanalew have more subscribers? Yes, she has 125,176 at last count (that's good enough for 22nd in Canada) but she should have more I say! This is her latest which is her doing her Supernote and she has some friends make guest appearances.
The Supernote contest ends tonight at midnight (October 31st) so get on it people! Nanalew's was made for Meekakitty's Team Stashe. Were you as surprised as I was to see Mitchell Davis & Kyle Sibert aka livelavalive and well as the beardman himself, Wheezy Waiter. Although I think it will be Wheezy's year (unless Shay Carl can spur a last minute charge), I gotta give Nanalew props for sticking with Team Stashe even though they sit currently in 6th place - but that is also because Meekakitty has such fanatical followers. It is down to Wheezy Waiter and Shay Carl in the epic battle of the beards in the 2010 Supernote contest. Both Team Beard (Wheezy's team) and the Shaytard Rebellionites (Shay's team) need to be commended as both are far and away number one and two overall and running away with the contest. Both Wheezy and Shay made last minute videos to try to bolster the troops and try to get this thing won and Shay came back from about 13,000 seconds behind to about 4,000 back, so I think it may be Wheezy's year, but it ain't over til the fat lady sings (although I hear her warming up). Who has the longest Supernote this year?
It looks like truecolors911 has the longest Supernote for 2010 so good luck trying to beat her! She did it for Project LavaNote (LiveLavaLive) and clocked in at 148.2 seconds - that's almost 2 and a half minutes!.
One of my favorite youtubers, SupaDupaFlyGirl (aka lovely Liz), gives us VidCon from her perspective. I've been patiently waiting for her to upload a video because I've seen her lurking in the background in Olga Kay's various clips and she doesn't disappoint. In SDFG's video we get to see her arrival at VidCon and Olga picking her up (there's a combo spelling trouble right there) and off to one of the early panels featuring some top youtubers: ijustine, Phil DeFranco, TheWillOfDC and Michael Buckley (from WhatTheBuckShow in case you didn't know) and shots of Olga showing off her gun dress. As I commented on SDFG's video, even as a straight hetero dude, I gotta say that dress is fabulous.
Also Liz got footage of several of the musical acts and assorted jugglers and some of Alli Speed's "Chubby Bunny Challenge" that should be up on Alli's channel shortly.
GIVE ME MY EGGS!
Later in a nearby Dennys, while waiting for some breakfast, she and Olga try a few odd flipcam tricks and Liz becomes all demanding, sounding Lindsay Lohan-esque, "Give me my EGGS!" Gotta admit that I love her eyes. I know it's corny to say that, but SupaDupaFlyGirl has the sort of eyes that they are referring to when they talk about "limpid pools". Hopefully she isn't totally creeped out by that if she ever reads this lol.
Here's another video she posted a few months back when she was just planning on going to VidCon and happy that she was going to be seeing a bunch of her youtuber friends. Funny but a lot of them are folks I have been subbed to for quite a while. It's something of a montage of her friends in various clips:
Really, sub to her! She seems to be a genuinely nice person that has interesting stuff to say. And she's a great photographer as well. Many layers to this interesting Youtuber!
Rocketboom's Molly gets a chance to speak with Hank & John Green of the vlogbrothers about the success of the 3-day VidCon which is now wrapping up in Los Angeles. According to Hank, the event was intended to be an online video conference to show the video industry about the power and vibrancy of the burgeoning online video community (at YouTube and elsewhere).
I started hearing about VidCon while watching videos by different youtubers over the last several months and as the excitement built youtubers would sprinkle in a comment in their videos: "You going to VidCon?" and "I'm so excited about VidCon" and when it finally came, it turned out to be one of those monster events that you are kicking yourself for not attending. Just looking at all the various videos from behind the scenes as well as those of the multitude of panel discussions and other assorted cool stuff really shows what drawing power an event like this can generate.
VidCon 2: Toyko Drift
If we give Hank & John Green a bit of a breather, I'm hoping they'll help organize another one of these shindigs for next year. Maybe "VidCon 2: Toyko Drift" lol. I kid because I'm a jerk. No, really, "VidCon 2.0" or something similar could be a huge event in 2011, and maybe this time it could be in New York or again in Los Angeles or even somewhere in the middle might be doable.
So Hank & John, have you caught your breath yet? Better get on it boys! Just kidding. Right now both of the vlogbrothers are probably ecstatic that the big event is over and need some much needed snooze time. But once they recharge you know everyone will be asking about a sequel to this successful event.

VidCon is almost over (just one day left) and weary youtubers need a place to crash. Michell Davis from livelavalive has been taken home by Olga Kay and supadupaflygirl (aka Elizabeth) and poor Michell is forced to endure Olga's fashion sense in bedwear. Olga Kay has decided that Michell should wear some African print moo-moo, that if Olga wore it she wuld get swallowed up. Where the heck did she GET that lol?
