This was answered by Trotsky well in advance in The Revolution Betrayed. He explained that a nationalised planned economy needs democracy as the human body needs oxygen. In this introduction to the Indonesian edition of Trotsky's classic work Alan Woods explains why the Soviet Union collapsed and what the situation is today.

En las elecciones municipales del 2004 el M.A.S. ganaba en 80 de los 327 municipios del país y en ninguna ciudad capital, mientras que en las elecciones de Prefectos del 2005 solo ganó en Chuquisaca, Potosí y Oruro. Hoy el M.A.S. gobernará en Cobija, Cochabamba y en la populosa El Alto, tercera ciudad del país. Los conteos rápidos en boca de urna nos atribuyen las gobernaciones de Potosí, La Paz, Cochabamba, Chuquisaca, Oruro y posiblemente Pando. | |
