Violating Jerusalem

Posted: 06 Oct 2010 07:01 AM PDT

Violating Jerusalem On October 4, 2010, the Jerusalem Planning and Building Committee failed reaching a decision on a tunnel entry to the Western Wall Plaza. The plan was prepared by the Western Wall Foundation, the Jerusalem Development Authority and the municipality; it includes the construction of a tunnel that would become the main entrance to the plaza and a four-story parking place for 600 cars. Kais Nasser, an attorney representing several Islamic groups, said the move contravenes court rulings on the Western Wall.

Since it implies opening a new opening between the Zion and Dung gates into the Old City, this is a major change in the status quo (the existing religious equilibrium). Last time a new opening breached the city walls was in 1898, when the Ottoman authorities made an opening near the Jaffa Gate, in order to allow the passage of Germany's Kaiser Wilhelm II.

'And then the night came down'

It has been 10 years since the October 2000 events that saw 13 unarmed Palestinians killed by Israeli police. Last Friday, more than 6,000 Palestinian citizens of Israel gathered in the Galilee village of Kfar Kana. Waving Palestinian flags and gripping pictures of their dead sons they marched through the town to commemorate the bloodshed.

The protestors also called for justice.

The Obama Citizenship Issue Just Won't Go Away

Posted: 06 Oct 2010 02:42 AM PDT

The Obama Birth Certificate Question just keeps going on and on and on like the Energizer Bunny, and it has the top Democrats scared because they all know Barry has something to hide and they're about to lose control of Congress.

The premier political blog TheHill.com reports: "House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) warned Republicans will investigate President Obama's birthplace if they take over Congress. Clyburn, the third-ranking Democrat in the House, said Republicans will grind the government to a halt by issuing subpoenas against the Obama administration over a number of issues… Clyburn noted that Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the ranking Republican on the House Oversight panel, has said will will issue subpoenas everywhere if Republicans win the majority. 'The White House will be full-time responding to subpoenas about where the president may or may not have been born, whether his mother and father were ever married, and whether his wife's family is from Georgetown or Sampit,' Clyburn said in an interview published Monday on TheGrio.com, an African-American news website. 'That will define the next two years of the president's administration.'"

Government Exploits CIA Patsy to Hype Police State "Surge" Exercise On Amtrak Routes

Posted: 05 Oct 2010 10:32 AM PDT

As the mid-term elections rapidly approach and Barry Obama's popularity numbers continue down the tubes, the government is pulling out all the stops to hype the possibility of a "Mumbai-style" terror attack on Europe and the homeland.

"U.S. authorities plan a law enforcement surge this week along Amtrak routes, an exercise called RailSafe, and the heads of the country's biggest mass transit systems were briefed today on the possible terror threat, all part of what is being called an abundance of caution," reports ABC News today. The "high-security exercise" will be held on Friday.

iPhone Game Slaughters Humans To Defend "Mother Earth"

Posted: 05 Oct 2010 08:50 AM PDT

A popular new game for the iPhone depicts a giant worm slaughtering humans and knocking airplanes out of the sky to save "mother earth" in another shocking example of how the eco-fascists that have taken over the environmental movement are obsessed with mass genocide and gory death.

As I look out my window while typing this article, the sky is blue, the sun is shining, the trees are swaying and the birds are singing, but according to the makers of Super Mega Worm, the planet was only like this many hundreds of years ago before humans started making evil machines that belched carbon dioxide.

An African renaissance in Senegal?

Posted: 05 Oct 2010 07:47 AM PDT

Senegal, a country on the Western edge of Africa with a predominantly Muslim population, has a fully functioning democracy and has largely escaped the separatist violence that has hampered the progress of several of its neighbours.

But it is not without its problems. Its economy has recently faltered and there are suggestions that its cherished tradition of democracy is under threat, with the president allegedly grooming his son to succeed him.

Losing our religion

Posted: 05 Oct 2010 06:25 AM PDT

Well, maybe not so much. This week the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life released a poll showing that Americans arguably know less about various world religions than they do about who won the disco ball on the last season of Dancing With the Stars. This shouldn't be hugely surprising.

We're Americans, after all, and not knowing stuff is as American as apple pie. Famed historian Richard Hofstadter wrote a Pulitzer Prize winning book in 1964 entitled Anti-Intellectualism in American Life, and it is likely this strain of our historical DNA that is responsible for such phenomena as Snooki getting a book contract and Glenn Beck having an online university.

More on Washington's Failed Ecuadorean Coup Attempt

Posted: 05 Oct 2010 02:34 AM PDT

steve lendmanFor nearly two centuries, America dismissively called Latin America its "backyard," the 1823 Monroe Doctrine asserting a declaration of regional dominance, stating:

"....as a principle in which the rights and interests of the United States are involved, that the American continents, by the free and independent condition which they have assumed and maintain, are henceforth not to be considered as subjects for future colonization by any European powers....we should consider any attempt on their part to extend their system to any portion of this hemisphere as dangerous to our peace and safety.... (impossible to) behold....with indifference."
